Clinics & Services
In addition to GP consultations the practice offers a range of clinics and healthcare services:
Asthma Management Clinic
Clinics are held on most Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons each week. This clinic aims to help patients successfully manage their asthma and is run by practice nurses who have diplomas in asthma management.
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Clinic
The COPD clinic is held most Wednesday afternoons and run by an experienced practice nurse who holds a COPD Diploma. This clinic is run to help patients suffering from COPD to understand and manage their condition with the nurses’ support. The nurse also carries out special breathing tests to aid in an accurate diagnosis and to monitor the disease progression.
Diabetes Clinic
This diabetic clinic is held in the afternoon and run by the practice nurse who holds a diabetes diploma. As well as carrying out routine checks on diabetes control, the nurse provides education, support and encouragement in managing diabetes.
Smear Tests (Cervical Cytology)
We recommend that all women aged 25 - 65 years should have smears carried out every three years (age 25 - 49 years) and every 5 years (age 50 -65). The Health Board will send you a letter when your smear test is due. If you do not wish to have this done, please come and discuss it with the nurse. The practice nurses or a female doctor usually performs these smear tests.
Minor Surgery
The partners undertake certain minor operations to help save long waits for hospital treatment. Please note that, for legal reasons, an adult must accompany anybody under the age of 16 years.
Family Planning
The practice nurses trained in family planning can provide a confidential service to advise and help the patients to decide on contraceptive needs. The nurse can also see the patient to arrange a repeat prescription for the oral contraceptive pill. The surgery also offers an Emergency Contraception service.
Dr Wallace can fit Contraceptive Coils and Subdermal Implants (Nexplanon).
Maternity Care
Pregnancy Test Positive? Please contact the Midwifery Team to arrange an initial appointment by telephoning 01241 8225387. If you have to leave a message, clearly state your name and a daytime contact number. It is helpful if you remember to take a sample of urine with you to the appointment.
Postnatal Care
In the weeks following a baby’s birth, the midwife and the health visitor give care in the home. All mothers can request a six-week postnatal check where they can discuss family planning advice.
Paediatric Screening
All of our partners are qualified to assess pre-school children to check that they are growing and developing normally.
Foreign Travel Immunisation
The practice nurses offer a comprehensive travel immunisation service. Patients are required to complete a travel questionnaire at least 6 weeks prior to travel if possible, in order to assist the nurse in planning and providing the appropriate immunisation courses. The practice is also a registered Yellow Fever Immunisation Centre. Please note, certain immunisations such as yellow fever, rabies and Hepatitis B require payment of a fee. Counselling
Sessions are held at the practice on Monday and Friday of each week. The counsellor arranges appointments after referral by the doctor.
Smoking Cessation
Support for smokers trying to quit smoking, is available from the local Community Pharmacists or phone Tayside Smoke Free Helpline on: 0845 600 9996.
Stress Management
People with stress-related problems may be referred to the Clinical Psychologist after consultation with the doctor.
Patients Not Seen Regularly
Registered patients aged between 16 and under 75 who have not been seen by a member of the practice Clinical Team within the last three years have the right to request an appointment.
Registered patients aged over 75 who have not been seen by a member of the practice Clinical Team within the last 12 months have the right to request an appointment, or, if confined to the house, to request a home visit.
